The Hidden Cost of Carrying Responsibility
Leadership can be deeply rewarding.
It can also be heavy.
Many thoughtful leaders carry far more than is visible to those around them. Decisions, concerns, competing priorities and the wellbeing of others often travel home with them long after the working day has ended.
Over time, responsibility can become so familiar that we stop noticing how much we are carrying.
We continue solving problems, supporting others and keeping things moving, often without pausing to ask whether all of the weight we are carrying is actually ours to hold.
One of the most valuable things coaching can offer is space to put some of that weight down for a while.
Not because the responsibility disappears.
But because perspective becomes possible.
And with perspective often comes clarity, choice and a renewed sense of what truly matters.
